Of course, every great tale has a fantastic beginning. Mr. Lim established his company in Kuantan's Batu 10 neighbourhood in the early 1960s, offering the locals necessities. Even in his early days of business, he created a variety store where he sold goods for fixing and finishing homes as well as food cans and other items. Interestingly, one of the most in-demand services in the area was water pumping, which included well dredging.
Mr. Lim learned some of the most valuable lessons when he was young. Mr. Lim makes the journey to Singapore in order to master the motorcycle repair trade with the desire to survive and a bright future. Following years of working as an apprentice for a motorcycle company, a young guy believed it is best to start a shop which can develop the town in which he resides.
He established his repair business upon his return to Jalan Gambang, Batu 10, Kuantan. He created a repair business instead of opening a motorbike shop since it could operate for less money. Mr. Lim began working as a sub-agent for licensed dealers in Kuantan when consumers inquired about buying motorcycles.
Since then, he has been completing orders, attracting the attention of manufacturers, and never again entering his thoughts as one of the reliable authorized dealers in the future.
In early 80s, Mr. Lim move out the business into the town and restart from scratch which is never easy, and Mr. Lim faced many challenges along the way. He had to work hard to establish relationships with manufacturers and suppliers, find the right location for his dealership, and build a loyal customer base. But through his dedication and perseverance, he was able to turn Soon Hin Company into a thriving business that has become a cornerstone of the local motorcycle community.
Mr. Lim has worked to instill in his company a culture of openness on operational behaviour, diligence, and building credibility. He saw the demise of his friends and rivals over the years as a result of a failure to uphold the reliability and consistency of the service offered.
In order to sustain the success of the company, he deeply infuses his family's and his staff's culture.
Today, Soon Hin Company continues to uphold Mr. Lim's vision of providing excellent service and a wide range of products to motorcycle enthusiasts in Kuantan and beyond. The dealership has expanded to include a full-service repair shop and a well-stocked parts and accessories department.
And despite its growth, Soon Hin company remains committed to providing personalized service and building strong relationships with each and every customer who walks through its doors.
As Mr. Lim grew older, he began to think about the future of his business. He wanted to pass down his legacy to his sons, where all three of them had grown up in the dealership and had a deep love for motorcycles. Mr. Lim knew that his sons will continue the torch and take over the business, but he also knew that they would have to work hard to maintain the high standards that he had set.
The sons took over the business with confidence. They implemented new marketing strategies, expanded the dealership's product line, and introduced new services to attract more customers.
Under Mr. Ray leadership, the dealership flourished. Sales increased, and the business became known as one of the best in the industry. Ray's & Money's passion for motorcycles and dedication to they customers had paid off, and the future looked bright.
Mr. Lim continued to visit the dealership after he retired. He enjoyed seeing his customers' happy faces and the joy that his motorcycles brought to their lives. He'd spend hours talking to customers, telling them stories and advising them on which motorcycles to buy.
However, he did not come to the dealership simply to socialize. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever possible. He would assist the staff with inventory management, provide advice on negotiating with suppliers, and even assist with customer service when things became hectic.
Mr. Lim was still loved and respected by the community, and people came to him for advice on a variety of topics other than motorcycles. People looked up to him as a wise and caring elder, and he had become a beloved figure in the community.
His health began to deteriorate over time. He wasn't able to visit the dealership as frequently as he used to, but he kept in touch with his sons and the staff. He called the dealership on a regular basis to check in and see how things were going, and he was always interested in hearing about new developments and changes.
Mr. Lim had officially retired, but he had never truly left the dealership. His presence could be felt in every corner of the store, and his legacy was carried on by the love and care he had shown to everyone he met. He was a true example of a business owner who loved and cared about his community, and he will be remembered as such.
